Norway doesn’t own the name “MGP”, so I always specify that it’s thhe N MGP. The lineup this year is more disappointing than most other NFs, so yeah. Whatever. Let’s get this out of the way.
Another quick opening this time. The hosts joked around a bit with good reactions from the audience and carried on with the songs. I missed most of the opening due to Eesti Laul, sadly, so I again missed the potentially fun stuff.
This is nothing more than the most average pop song in existence. Of course, the producers have no sense of humour and didn’t put it last as they should’ve, but it’s still passable. At least the live performance was decent.
The song is even worse than the previous one, but the performance was even better. Even though everyone in MGP is autotuned to shit (this is why everyone says that the MGP performance of Queen of Kings was the best - she was just autotuned to shit and when that crutch got taken away from her, she rightly flopped because her lack of skill was exposed), he actually sounds alright.
This is an actively tedious experience. This is one of those song that thinks it’s so clever for dropping a random non-English word to sound “ethnic”, but ends up sounding like every Melodifestivalen heat last place ever. The performance is also absolutely dead and lifeless. Overall, this is exactly the kind of song I’ve come to expect from Norway (bad).
As far as songs go, I’d rather have a generic rock song over a generic pop song because at least it’s a genre I prefer. That said, for a metal song, this is sorta generic and not very good. But the vocal was nice and the staging was memorable. This is probably the best choice for Norway.
Musically, it reminded me of El Diablo a little bit, especially that beat. They’re really lucky that MGP allows pitch correction because I kinda doubt they’d be able to pull this off without it. I have nothing to say otherwise.
I like the costumes a lot. But the rest of the package is just a total nothingburger as is everything else. I simply don’t care about the song. But it’s probably one of the better choices for Norway to qualify.
This is also tedious to listen to. This is a total copycat of Queen of Kings without anything that made it at least a little bit interesting. Of course, she sounds good because of pitch correction, but the song is just bad and bland. I don’t like it at all.
This is also actively bad. The lyrics are cringe, the music is annoying and everything about it is bad. I hate the whole “teehee, let’s take a children’s rhyme and make it CrEeEeEePy, woOoOOoooOo”. And she’s also being carried by pitch correction. Ew.
This is a really bad song, but, on the upside, the performance is one of the better ones of the night, which is why I won’t put it dead last. Still, this shouldn’t win because the song makes me want to stop listening to music altogether. This is by far Elisabeth Andreassen’s worst NF entry of all (and she’s had a lot).
This was bad. Like, really bad. By far the worst Nordic NF of the year, in fact. The hosts still recycled the popcorn cannon joke, which got old all the way back when Norway started using it for the first time. The interval acts were kinda cool though. I especially loved hearing a cover of Nocturne by Gåte. The results were shit though. Lighter landslided the jury and the televote, so it was always obvious who was going to win. I hope Norway NQs this year as it would be entirely deserved.
And yes, Laika Party would’ve easily won in this lineup.
